On Losing Weight

I've been working out about a month now and I'm already seeing some result.  I haven't really lost any weight coz I'm doing a lot of resistance training and weight lifting.  But I did shed a few inches on my body.  I'm finally able to fit in this dress.  I really have a bad habit of buying clothes that are small for me, I use that excuse as a "motivation" to get me to lose weight.  But of course it doesn't work all the time so I just ended up keeping them for months (even years sometimes).

The gym membership was a great motivator for me to go out and workout. Knowing that I'm paying for it, I'm kinda forced to use it.  And once I'm in the gym, its hard not to get persuaded when you see everyone else are in so much better shape than you are.  I remember my first week , I was using the elliptical trainer my goal was to stay for at least 5 minutes but halfway there I was ready to pass out.  Then a pregnant woman started using the one next to me like it was nothing to her.  How can you give up after seeing that, right? 

Looking good is a great motivation but my biggest one is being able to keep up with my kids.  I have a 12 year old and 21-month old and I really don't want to miss out on that by being out of shape.  I like it that I have more energy now to take my son to the park or go swimming or playing with him.  I still have a long ways to be able to reach my goal.  I would really love to hear your tips, advice or thoughts on getting in shape.

  2. hey lala! gradually do a little at a time doll. your length of time on the machines will increase. i use to do 4 miles on the treadmill like nothing. haha then i stopped for a long period. when i returned i was huffing and puffing at 2 miles, but then went to 3 miles. don't focus on what's around you. everyone is different. you focus on your self. do 3 minutes on it and then it will increase to 4 and 5. you look like you're in great shape doll. i love that dress and your shoes are fabulous.

    Haha, and way to go, congrats on losing inches. I honestly think that's more important than weight. I've signed up for a Spinning class, and since it cost me money, that definitely give me more motivation.

  20. I think you look pretty good, luv. I've heard that circuit training really helps. Do 5 different workouts in a row--lunges, squats, planks, jumping jacks, repeat. Hope that helps!

  35. hello :) you have such a cute son!
    and i've got some tips if you'd like to hear...
    I was very frustrated with my weight for years but all I was doing was braging about it and doing nothing to make it better, finally now at 1st year of college i decided to do something about it.. First, a big motivator for me was also clothes because I wanted so many pieces but I couldn't buy them because they wouldn't look good on me with my weight, Second, I took me some trainer who showed me how to do exercises and who told me how many reps and series I have to do so his word also motivated me, what I was doing was the whole across the gym training so it means weight lifting and all the machines-stairs, treadmill, etc..
    First of all you should be determined to do it.
    Second, eat healthier it's really an amazing feeling when you work out and eat clean
    Third, you should firstly do cardio work outs and then 3 weeks of using all the machines in the gym and weight lifting too, then after those 3 weeks try to do groups of muscles, if you go to a gym 3 times a week on monday you do exercises for your back muscles, triceps, cardio and abs, on wednesday do just muscles for your legs, butt, biceps, cardio and abs and then on friday do your shoulders, chest (bench), cardio and abs. this is how I exercised for the past 5 months and I lost 15lbs!
    The reason why I added abs in every day because you can rest your legs or back while doing abs :)
    And also, don't get fooled, weight lifting also helps you loose weight although no one looks on it that way, my personal trainer told me than! :)

    1. thanks so much for the encouragement! you are right eating clean is a big factor on losing weight. Im working on it, trying to cut down on the rice as much as i can and eating and drinking more greens!

    I always find to lose weight, I try to exercise portion control. If I eat less for a day or two at each meal, I find my stomach 'shrinks' a bit, and I am less hungry/ full more quickly at each meal eventually.
